Sealed proposals will be received by the City of Clanton at the Sixth Street Meeting Room of Clanton City Hall, 500 Second Avenue North, Clanton, Alabama 35045 until 10:00 CDT June 5, 2012 for the Construction of the Northside Fire Station (No. 3), at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read.
A certified check or bid bond payable to the City of Clanton in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000, must accompany the bidder's proposal. Performance and Labor and Material Paymont Bonds, proof of insurance, and a complete list of subcontractors and suppliers will be required prior to the signing of the Contract.
Drawings and Specifications may be examined at the office of Barry Davis, Architects. Bid Documents may be obtained fromt he office of the Architect upon deposit of $100 per set, which will be refunded in full on the first two sets issued to each general contract bidder submitting a bona fide bid, upon return of documents in good condition within seven calendar days of bid date. Other sets may be obtained upon payment of $100 per set, non-refundable. No partial sets will be issued. The architect will not deliver Bid Documents.
A pre-bid conference is scheduled for 9:00am, May 15, 2012 at the Sixth Street Meeting Room of Clanton City Hall. Attendance at this conference is encouraged, but not mandatory.
Bids must be submitted on proposal forms furnished by the Architect or copies thereof. All bidders bidding amounts exceeding $50,000 must be licensed under the Provision of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be recieved or considered by the Archtiect; the bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying his or her current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids for a period of thirty (30) days. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted.
Non-resident bidders must accompany any written bid documents with a written opinion of an attorney at law licensed to practice law in such non-resident bidder's state of domicile, as to the preferences, if any or non, granted by the law of that state to its own business entities whose principal places of business are in that state in the letting of any or all pubic contracts in accordance with Alabama Law (Regular Session 1984) Act No. 84-228.
